Million Father March
Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood Supports Million Father March

The Illinois Council on Responsible Fatherhood supports all the efforts and endeavors that have been taken in order to prompt black men to take their children to school throughout this nation.  The Council’s Chair, Jeffery M. Leving was in attendance at the press conference supporting the Million Father March on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 in Chicago.

“The Million Father March is one prime example of the Council’s goal of increasing the proportion of children growing up with an involved and responsible father in the state of Illinois.  This is essential to the well-being of our children because fatherless children are twice as likely to drop out of school (Source: U.S. Department of Health and Human Services),” said Leving.

“According to the U.S. Census Bureau sixty-six percent of black children are living in homes absent their biological father, which hurts African American children,” said Leving.
